It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere Parrot Head Fascinator

It's no secret that I enjoy a bit of good-looking camp here and there (see the Oh Deer Headband, if you will). So it should come as no surprise that I decided to make my step-mom a fancy, glitterized parrot head inspired fascinator for her next Jimmy Buffett concert.

Here it is nearing completion.

It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere

I had a lot of fun with this particular fascinator because parrot heads, as a group, seem like they can't get enough of the OTT (over the top) hats. Just google it! Here, I'll save you the trouble and google parrot head hats for you.

Leg prop for fascinator making

I wanted this little guy to be a bit more demure (who doesn't like miniature?) yet still have some fun with kitsch, loads of glitter (who doesn't like a little glitz?) and generally, just keep it toned-down in size. The size thing is an issue of both comfort (foam, acrylic, or polyester based headgear just doesn't breathe, I don't care what you say) and consideration (no one wants that dude in front of them at a concert...everyone likes to see what is in front of them...right?) This fascinator is comfortable AND nice! how about that?

Do you know any Parrot Heads? Are you one yourself?

(pssst!!)
For a limited time (from now until Aug 6) I am offering $10 off a 5 O'clock Somewhere hat. Just enter discount code PHIP during checkout! Fins up!

  1. I don't know what these parrot head people are, but that is really. really. really. adorable!

I don't know that I could personally pull off a palm tree on my head (dinosaurs and deer, yes) But I would definitely love to have something with pompom trim on my noggin! Your stepmom is a lucky lady.

  3. I love Jimmy Buffet! I have been a big fan for years and use to go to all his concerts. I haven't been to a concert in a very long time but will be going to see him in Phila on August 10th. I would love to wear this little fascinator. It would make all the people I am going with crazy. lol
